Sea Angling Safety & Information
Every year the media reports the tragic news of anglers who have lost their lives while fishing. As the representative body for angling in England the Angling Trust is trying to get more people fishing more often. We therefore recognise that we have a duty of care to ensure that all those anglers fishing at sea are aware and informed about the potential dangers and the measures they can take to ensure they continue to fish without putting themselves in danger.

Minimum Conservation Reference Sizes (MCRSs)
Minimum landing sizes are used all over the World and are just one of a number of tools used to manage fish stocks. However, as a common sense approach to conservation and an easy concept to understand (protecting immature fish) they have become particularly favoured by recreational anglers with an interest in conservation and sustainable management of fish stocks.

Fisheries Management - Who Does What?
A number of different organisations are involved with the management of fisheries here in the UK, each with different responsibilities and different roles to play. We have created a quick overview on who's who within marine management in the UK.
European Anglers Alliance
The European Anglers Alliance (EAA) is a pan-European organisation. There are more than 3 million affiliated members to the 14 EAA member organisations. The EAA is recognised as a non-governmental organisation. EAA is the only European angling organisation of its kind defending recreational angler’s interests at the European level and beyond. The Angling Trust sits on both the rivers and sea sub groups which meet regularly. Through EAA the Angling Trust has developed good relationships with other national angling organisations across Europe.
