Statement from the Angling Trust

On Friday 1 August, we were made aware of a serious allegation concerning a member of Angling Trust staff. We were, and remain, shocked by this news. The identity of the individual was confirmed, and, due to the serious nature of the allegation, we acted immediately to suspend them from their role and refer the matter to the police.

The allegations relate to personal conduct outside of their work for the Angling Trust. We have received no complaints about their conduct at work, and there is nothing at present to suggest the allegations are connected to their role with us or to any other member of staff. The individual’s most recent DBS check was completed and cleared in March this year. We have removed the individual’s access to all Angling Trust systems, materials, and social media accounts, and have taken steps to remove related content from our channels. Relevant partners, stakeholders, and our staff have been informed.

The individual remains suspended while we cooperate fully with the ongoing police investigation, we are also in contact with the relevant Local Authority Designated Officer. We will continue to assess any implications in line with our safeguarding and HR procedures.
