Did you enjoy fishing but stopped for some reason? Thought about starting again but been too busy? Not sure where or how to go? Confused by all the latest tackle?

Then sign up for a “Get Back Into Angling” session and by the end of the day you’ll be ready to start fishing again. These 4 hour lessons are run by friendly, quality assured licensed coaches at great venues to give you the skills and confidence to get back out there enjoying fishing.

The cost is absolutely free (…the usual price of a coached session like this would be at least £50) and sessions are available which cover general coarse, game or predator and lure fishing skills. Use of tackle, flies, lures or bait is provided free too but you can bring your own if you prefer.

Get Back Into Angling sessions are ideal for anyone who used to go fishing but has stopped for whatever reason. If you’ve thought you’d like to start going angling again, but were too busy with work or family, these are the perfect opportunity to come and get back into angling!

Don’t forget that in England and Wales it’s a legal requirement to have a fishing licence to go fishing in freshwater. You’ll need one to attend our free Get Back Into Angling events. If you haven’t got one already you can get a 1-day, 8-day or 12-month licence online or ask the contact person below for help.

It was a really lovely day and the coach was brilliant. He gave me lots of information on tackle and demonstrated different ways to attach hooks and floats as this is the type of fishing I like to do. I’ll definitely be returning to spend time on lakes, rivers and canals. I had a wonderful return to fishing and will be introducing my grandson to our exciting and rewarding sport.

The course was really informative and now I’m ready to go fishing again knowing I can choose the right tackle. The time and energy you put into the course was amazing – thanks.

What happens on the day: Angling instruction to encourage adults and young people who haven’t been fishing for a couple of years or more to get back into angling. Licensed Level 2 Coaches will show you how to use key items of tackle and lures, flies or bait before moving onto the waterside to catch fish and return them safely. The coach will also provide you with more info about your local club or fishery so by the end of the session you will have enough confidence and knowledge to go fishing straight away.

Don’t Forget your rod licence… Angling Trust Get Back Into Angling and other fishing events are funded by the Environment Agency to help more people go fishing. If you go fishing independently of these events you’ll need to get a fishing licence first – for more information, together with costs and how to purchase visit www.gov.uk/fishing-licences/buy-a-fishing-licence or call 0344 800 5386. Junior licences for ages 12-16 are free. No rod licence needed for under 12’s.
