Virtual Fisheries Forum | Angling Club Development: Fishmark & the Get Fishing Award
For our latest Virtual Fisheries Forum, we welcome Dean Asplin and Darren Birch from the Participation Team to discuss Angling Club Development through the lenses of Fishmark and the Get Fishing Awards.
Fishmark is the Angling Trust’s accreditation scheme for clubs and fisheries which meet the national standard for all quality sports organisations, recognised across the country. Fishmark accredited organisations are recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as helping parents and carers know that they’re choosing the right place for their young people to join in with angling.
The Get Fishing Awards have been put in place to help newcomers on the first steps of their angling journey – from the unforgettable excitement of catching a first fish, right through to becoming a more experienced angler who can set up tackle and safely return fish as a fully-fledged fishing licence holder.
Becoming accredited through Fishmark or hosting sessions where participants can attain a Get Fishing Award represent great ways to further develop your club or fishery. This event is free to attend and open to all, and we encourage you to notify any fishing friends or colleagues who may find this session useful.

After feedback from previous events, our Virtual Fisheries Forums will now be broadcast via Zoom. Once you have registered, you will be sent a link for joining. You do not need an account with Zoom in order to take part.
Virtual Fisheries Forums follow a simple format, with talks from our guest speakers, before an open Q&A session, where your questions will be answered. Using the Q&A function on Zoom, you will be able to raise questions at any time. We are also happy to take relevant questions in advance of the meeting.
